You can start Outlook in safe mode, disable your sites.google.com add-ins, and then try to open Outlook normally. If you can't open Outlook, or Outlook disappears or crashes, one of your add-ins may be to blame or you may need to update Outlook. Note that you can quickly tell how your mail is currently sorted, by the presence of a small triangle on the field headers.

A more general version that can also fix Office, Microsoft 365, and other Outlook problems can be found here. Currently, you can't use Outlook on Windows to edit calendars that are shared with your Outlook.com account, even if you've reconnected your Outlook.com account to Outlook. We're working to make it possible to edit shared calendars in Outlook 2016 for Windows. We are aware that some users may not be able to receive email from Gmail accounts.

Use the Microsoft 365 setup troubleshooter to install Microsoft 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016 on your Windows PC. This option could be useful if you constantly have to wait for Outlook to rebuild its data file when you restart. There are multiple ways for you to send and receive email, and multiple versions of Outlook available. If the images in these topics don't match what you see on your screen, you might be using a different version of Outlook. If you can't receive new email messages, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take. If you've successfully sent and received email from classic Outlook before, and now Outlook repeatedly asks you to reenter your password, one of two things may have happened.

If so, wait a short time (usually two or three minutes) to see if Outlook starts working again. Sometimes you’ll open Outlook and then for no apparent reason, it will freeze or sites.google.com shut itself down. There are quite a few different causes for this, but one of the most common is a defective add-in. Here’s how to disable add-ins in Outlook even when it keeps crashing.

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support. You can start Outlook in safe mode, disable your add-ins, and then try to open Outlook normally. Starting Outlook in safe mode, which starts Outlook without add-ins loaded, can tell you if an add-in is the source of the problem. For a short intro about how to access and read the Event Viewer in Windows, see this Quick Tip. If these methods dose not work, you can also try a third party tool, Kernel for Outlook PST Repair tool. If anyone finds a more permanent solution, I would appreciate it.

An outdated version can also be a cause of why Outlook keeps crashing unexpectedly. The simplest solution often resolves many software-related issues. Similarly, restarting your computer can clear temporary glitches and refresh your system’s sites.google.com resources. This issue has been fixed in the following versions and builds. Please reference Update History for builds by channel, Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps (listed by date). When you open or start a new email, classic Outlook crashes.

Not something you want to take on lightly, but sometimes you have to. Similar to our earlier suggestion of repairing Office (see #3 Repair Your Microsoft Office above), perform the same steps except choose to Uninstall. Be aware that you may need your product key if you received one. This option could be useful if you constantly have to wait for Outlook to rebuild its data file when you restart. No matter how well written add-ins are sites.google.com (and even Outlook itself), there will always be the occasional Outlook problem that doesn’t seem to go away or may not be related to add-ins at all.

We have gone through many steps with Microsoft Support until they could help no further. We have tried to trouble shoot and done a system restore but there was no restore point sites.google.com and a startup repair and nothing worked. When we performed a startup repair this is the message we received. Outlook stores all your email messages, meetings and events, contacts, and tasks in data files.

Microsoft has its own tool for automatically scanning and correcting Office when things go awry. You can read about it and then run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to see if that helps. It can automatically diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and fix problems with Outlook.
